Red Dot Award Design Concept 2012 – Open For Entries

Red Dot Award Design Concept 2012 is open for entries. Red Dot Design Award is an international product design prize awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. Why don’t you try to submit your innovative idea to Red Dot Award Design Concept 2012. The Award calls upon designers, companies, design institutions and design studios to submit their latest and best idea, as a product with good design, to the competition.

The red dot award: design concept has been accepting entries in English, German, Chinese and Korean since 2011. The goal of the award is to be the essential platform that take apart good ideas with good design solutions from the mediocre, to provide a professional appraisal and internationally recognized seal that gives an advantage to the design and designer in the aggressive market. From now till 29 February 2012, submit your entry for early submission discounts. The award closes on 27 June 2012.

Ken Koo, red dot design award Asia President said: “The aim is to pitch concept design to the highest level, which is why there is no student or professional categories. All submissions are treated as equal without any prejudice towards young designers.”

There are prize categories for product design, design agencies, and design concepts. The competition is open to several fields of manufacturing, including, but not limited to furniture, home appliances, machines, cars and tools.

The competition focuses on young, up-and-coming creative talents, designers and design companies around the world. In 2008, there were over 3.200 submissions from 51 countries for the product design prize, over 5,800 submissions for the communication design prize and 1,900 entries from 46 countries.

The deadline for entries is June 27, 2012.

Designs of the Year 2012 show opens

Designs of the Year 2012 Awards somehow opens to the public with usual eclectic mix of the useful, the beautiful, the difficult to understand and the obvious. Its showcase the most innovative and progressive designs from around the world, spanning seven categories: Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics, Product and Transport. The Design of the Year Award 2012 will be announced at an Awards event in April 2012.

London Design Museum’s Design Awards somehow, in a process that describes itself as “the Oscars of the design world”. There are multiple design disciplines; including fashion, architecture, product design, digital and graphics.

There is Re-design for an Emergency Ambulance, Vivienne Westwood’s Ethical Fashion Africa collection of bags, made of recycled materials, Unit9’s One Thousand Cranes for Japan project, SEA’s sample books, the Kinect for Xbox 360 and Andrew Slorance’s Carbon Black Wheelchair .British fashion was an outfit from Mary Katrantzou’s seminal A/W 2011 collection. Lovely exhibition graphics by A Practice for Everyday Life, reflects the breadth, scale and adventurousness of this year’s nominees.

‘We spent nine months talking about the materials with chemists. This has been on the front page of concrete mags. It’s serious chemistry’ says Gordon Young. Design Awards includes more visible works such as Barber Osgerby’s Olympic Torch and Kate Middleton’s dress.
