London Festival of Photography Prize 2012 accepting entries

London Festival of Photography Prize is a chance for photographers to submit projects for addition in a world-class exhibition celebrating the annual festival theme. This impressive prize will achieve critical praise for the chosen winners. All entry will be seen by a judging panel of internationally well-known experts.

Projects combining photography, moving image, sound and graphics have become important parts of online journalism and story telling. The emphasis of the prize is on visual storytelling. Two winners, one for each category, will be flown to London for the exhibition and festival opening and each presented with a cheque for £1,000. The theme
intends to explore the changing boundaries between the public and the private, as both physical and metaphorical concepts, and the social consequences of these shifts. This prize aims to salute those practitioners and discover who is creating the most exciting multimedia projects today.

The Prize is open to all members of the public aged 18 anywhere in the world and over on the date of submission. The deadline is Thursday 29 March 2012, 11.59pm BST. Profotio is looking for creative images “Doorways and Passages” that best stand for what may be seen on either side of doors and what happens in their passageways. A door or doorway can lead us to an unknown aim full of surprises and mystery, or it can lead us to home and safety. A door can simply be a way of leaving one room and entering another room.

The competition is open to all photographers worldwide 18 years and older. Color and/or Black and White images will be accepted. winner of the contest will get $300 cash prize, last date of image submission is April 3, 2012. Sculptures, cave paintings, rock paintings, and petroglyphs from the Upper Paleolithic dating to roughly 40,000 years ago have been found, but the precise meaning of such art is often disputed because so little is known about the cultures that produced them.

The types of arts are classified in 2 categories i.e. fine arts and performing arts. When exploring different art styles you may come across a variety of techniques used by artists.The style of an artwork, artist, or movement is the distinctive method and form followed by the respective art.

Styles of Art:

Surrealism :Surrealists paintings were generally based on dreams. Dreams offer up an opening or rather doorway into other realms of consciousness.They thought that their paintings might stir up feelings in the back of peoples minds.
