India, Africa trade to boost trade upto $90b by 2015

Indian-African joint trade is projected to go up to $90 billion by 2015. India-Africa bilateral trade has reached US $ 60 bn. in the year 2011. The Meeting of the India-Africa Trade Ministers was co-chaired by Dr. Maxwell M. Mkwezalamba, Commissioner for Economic Affairs, African Union Commission, and Anand Sharma, Union Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textiles of India. The Ministers launched the First India-Africa Business Council (IABC).

The Union Commerce, Industry and Textiles Minister, Mr Anand Sharma said: “A 20-fold growth within a decade is indeed an achievement worth applauding. I propose that given the current growth rate, we may agree to revise the trade target to $90 billion by 2015.” The council will propose the way forward on attractive economic and commercial relations between India and Africa and also spot and address issues which hinder growth of economic partnership between India and Africa. The proposed incorporated clusters are likely to garner investments of $350 million and generate employment for 60,000 textile workers.

It also announced the launch of the Cotton Technical Assistance Programme in the C-4 countries Malawi, Nigeria and Uganda. During the 7th edition of the Conclave, 200 projects worth $18 billion were discussed. One of the highlight of this years is that it will see over 250 projects worth close to 30 Billion USD of projects being discussed.

Nike Sportswear celebrates the March Madness with a limited edition product collection celebrating Syracuse, Michigan State, Kentucky, Duke, Connecticut and Florida. Nike Basketball launched its supercharged Elite Series providing new levels of footwear innovation. The Nike Kobe VII, Nike Zoom Hyperdunk and LeBron 9 all feature premium materials and footwear technologies providing players with a performance leads.

Leo Chang, Nike Basketball Footwear Design Director said: “For the Nike Basketball Elite Series, we completely re-engineered each shoe from the inside out using the highest performance materials. We took our top franchise models and made them even better for the moment that matters most to our athletes – the run for the championship trophy.” The Nike Sportswear collection contains Destoyer jackets, AW77 hoodies, crewneck sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats and shoes.

Each style of the Nike Basketball Elite Series worn on court will initially display a special white Swoosh Design. Nike celebrates the player’s successes by replacing the white Swoosh with a gold one for the final game. Nike designers have gripped on every detail. For the player who has a “strong” game, the LeBron signature shoe contains extra carbon fiber enforcement that runs from the heel all the way to the wing, providing just the right amount of support needed for the moves involved in that style of play. The Nike Kobe VII, Nike Zoom Hyperdunk and LeBron 9 uppers all slot in the highest performance materials.

Nigeria Fashion Week showcases African designers

Nigeria’s largest city has host to a Fashion Week event in an effort to draw new attention to African designers. African fashion designers are using together their tradition and international trends to gain attention on the world stage. The 77 designers offered a range of outfits combination of traditional fabrics with international aesthetics. Victoria Island in Nigeria’s economic capital Lagos was home to one of Africa’s biggest fashion shows.

Nigerian designer Toju Foyeh said: “My designs are basically for young and middle-aged people, although I target the youth more as they are most likely to have a drive to look good.” New York-based designer Loza Maleombho debuted a collection that draws from the traveling Tuareg people of the Sahara Desert and Afghan traditional wear. ARISE Magazine Fashion Week in Lagos, now in its second year, highlighted the work of typically African or Africa-influenced designers. Seventy-seven rising African or African-based designers were whittled down to five winners to show at next year’s New York fashion week, the glamour queen of all fashion weeks. The first two days were cancelled as electricity problems remained uncontrolled in a city where most depend on generators for power.

People from around Africa, Paris, New York, the Caribbean, Mexico and China continued to arrive for the shows. UP to 200 media from around the world have registered to cover the shows, including newspapers, magazines and TV stations.

Apple unveils new iPad with HD Screen at Apple event march 2012

Apple gave the new iPad a bunch of new features. Apple has unveiled a new iPad with a high-definition screen. It has, as expected, a sharper screen, driven by a faster processing chip that acts as the “brains” of the device.

Apple chief executive Tim Cook said: “We think that iPad is the poster child of the post-PC world.” The new iPad will go on sale March 16 in Canada, France, Germany and the United States at the same price as the previous models, which start at $499 for the most basic iPad featuring wireless connectivity only. Schiller said: The new product also sports a substantially more powerful processor called the A5X chip — the X short for quad core graphics power built into the processor.

An iPad with 16 gigabytes of memory and with both Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity will cost $629 in the United States. iPad with 32GB Wi-Fi/4G model will cost $729 and a 64GB version with Wi-Fi and 4G will cost $829. The tablet also features a five-megapixel camera and high-definition video recording. The new iPad will look almost exactly like the earlier models. The new device supports the higher resolution 1080p specification and has a new user interface. The battery life of the new model remains the same. Apple says the battery capacity is 70 percent higher than for the old model. The new screen should be able to show all the detail in high-definition movies and also show deeper and more vibrant colors than previous models, Apple said. The new iPad will be 9.4 millimeters thick, or 0.37 inches.

French Jewelry Designer Suzanne Belperron collection at Geneva auction

The private collection of French jeweller Suzanne Belperron will be auctioned in Geneva on May 14, Sotheby’s announced Monday. Suzanne Belperron, born in the Jura region of France is now celebrated as one of the rare feminine forces of 20th Century jewellery design. She try outs with textures old and new, reviving tastes for natural pearls, and championing the use of grey gold and palladium, has given her jewellery a eternal elegance that seems as fresh and exciting today as it was at the time.

The collection, with an estimated value of over one million dollars, consists in affluence combined by Belperron, and others by Cartier and Faberge. Her jewelry embodies a sensual elegance as well as an intellectual charm that appealed to a stylish clientele from socialites to stage and screen stars. Suzanne never sold from a shop but received consumers at her home in Paris, among them the Duke and Dutchess of Windsor, the actor Gary Cooper, and the artist Jean Cocteau.

Suzanne born in Eastern France in 1900, she studied drawing and jewelry at the École des Beaux-Arts in Besançon, beginning her career in 1921 as a draftswoman at the celebrated maison Boivin in Paris. she left behind the rigid lines of Art Deco to carve stones into organic shapes, invoking the delicacy of wings, petals, and fruit, and adorned them with gemstones.

Verizon starts wireless broadband for homes

Verizon starts wireless broadband for homes. Verizon Wireless announced a version of its wireless broadband service that’s designed for use in rural and remote homes. Verizon Wireless is launching wireless broadband service that can’t get DSL or cable. The wireless broadband service, called HomeFusion which requires the installation of a cylindrical antenna, about the size of a 5-gallon bucket, on an outside wall. The hardware costs $200, but the work is free. HomeFusion starts at $60 per month for 10 gigabytes of data. The fixed-line phone company that owns most of Verizon Wireless, provides download speeds up to 7 megabits per second in most areas.

Dallas, Nashville, Tenn., and Birmingham, Ala., will be the first areas to get the service, later this month. Verizon will sell step-up plans with 20 gigabytes of data for $90 per month and 30 gigabytes for $120 per month.

Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless, is a mobile network operator in the United States. Verizon Wireless is one of two major U.S. carriers that use CDMA technology, the other being Sprint Nextel. Alltel also used CDMA before becoming part of Verizon Wireless. On February 21, 2012, T-Mobile filed a formal appeal with the FCC asking them to block the transfer of range purchased by Verizon Wireless at auction in 2006 from Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and Cox Communications.

Kanye West designs calfskin sandals with Giuseppe Zanotti in Paris Fashion Week

Kanye West, released the shoes he designed for Giuseppe Zanotti, during Paris Fashion Week. Rapper Kanye West created pair of calfskin sandals embroidered with pearls to accompany his Dw by Kanye collection at Paris Fashion Week in 2011. Fashion designer has placed his first pair of women’s shoes on sale in Paris, France – for almost $6,000.

His solely designed calf skin shoes adorned with pearls retail in Paris’s own ultra trendy and upscale store Colette. He had also just designed for Australian designer Dion Lee’s London Fashion Week show. Kanye West is due to return to the French catwalk to show off his latest designs for his 2012 collection as part of Paris Fashion Week. Singer Jordin Sparks has told on the desirable shoe is just too expensive to buy. Kanye’s heel is only available for purchase through the French retailer Colette. Kanye has previously created footwear designs with Louis Vuitton and Nike.

Kanye Omari West is an American rapper, singer, and record producer. As of 2012, West has won a total of eighteen Grammy Awards, making him one of the most awarded artists of all time. Kanye West was voted as the MTV Man of the Year by MTV in 2010.

Nourison will partner with Californian lifestyle designer Barclay Butera to create a line of rugs next month. Nourison and Californian lifestyle designer Barclay Butera have signed a new brand licensing agreement. The new designs will debut at the Spring High Point Market in Nourison’s showroom in the IHFC’s Interhall.
